So here's the deal.
I'm not good at publishing things. As you probably have guessed from my last three or four posts. Anyway, I have come to realize that a blog does not require "features" and other such things. So there will be more posting in the future.
One of the big reasons I don't do a lot of publishing, is because I rarely judge something to be worthy of it. So I have (as a mid-year resolution) decided to not worry about it so much.
So if there is anyone still out there, stay tuned for more.
(and please drop a comment sometimes, it gets lonely here.)

Don't delete me! This blog is totally not dead yet.
All right I'll own up. I haven't posted in forever due to a combination of business, school, and laziness. However, I have one week of school left (last day is approx. next Thursday.) so I'll be posting then. I had a lot of little features planned, but I doubt I can scrape up enough content to justify 6 or so series. So yeah, it's just going to be me talking about whatever now. I really can't even give the two or three people who look at this a game of the week right now as the computer I'm using at school can't handle Adobe Flash (school admins won't update it) So when I get a chance I'll be posting a "semester in review" thing and starting a regular posting schedule.
I'm also going to start plugging this on my facebook whenever I start going again.
Also, if anyone reads this who hasn't seen on my facebook (though I don't think I've posted it yet come to think of it) the band I'm in called Kaitlyn from Havasu will be performing at Rage Fest this year on January 16th 2011 at Castles'n'Coasters in Phoenix. We've got cheap tickets so get 'em while they're hot!
PS you'll notice I updated the music player! ha ha!

Great Gadzooks!! A Post from beyond the grave!!!
Yes yes I know you all thought I was dead.
The funeral was lovely though, I thought that James Earl Jones's eulogy was particularly moving.
Anyway I am back, and now that I have come into possession of a new chunk of time I shall be posting with far greater frequency. Starting with a revamp of the music list [read: I'm finally changing the songs], a new feature [read: another distraction], and new games of the week [read: actually posted every week]. So now that the earth shattering revelations are out of the way. I shall now get back to editing the first episode of Sierra Views!
What? Game of the Week you say? fine here ya go.
Warning: there is some blood and violence in this game, I mean, look at the title!
This is a really fun sort of puzzle game that forces you to use basic angles to kill or wound the outlines of guys in suits. Why? I have no idea, I guess because it's fun. Anyway it also includes some sweet music!
Till next time!

Don't worry
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, I've either been busy or I haven't been online for a while now.
Topic 1: Don't worry, there is a Kick-A series of posts saved on my laptop that will be coming out soon.
Topic 2: I know the Music Player is messed up, Project Playlist isn't known for it's reliability, wait till the next music update.
Topic 3: I know this is a cop-out.

Updates and a Preview
Sorry I haven't posted in a while, long story.
Anyway my game this week is called Super Mario Crossover. It's a blast if you are into the whole retro gaming thing (like me.) The idea is that you can play through the classic SMB levels with characters from other games, such as Metroid, Zelda, and Castlevania. It's pretty fun but really it's nothing new
Super Mario Crossover
Can anyone tell me if Jonah Hex is worth watching? I would appreciate the help.
Here's the new top 5 songs:
1: Way Down Here, Kenny Chesney
Kenny Chesney is one of the most versatile country players out there, he has gone traditional, pop, rock, and J. Buffet style island music. This album subscribes to the latter school of thought. While this is isn't the best song on the album, it describes what this album is, fundamentally. Good, old-fashioned, summer chill music.
2: Sinners Like Me, Eric Church
Okay, go read my notes on Jamey Johnson, then leave out the part about the song of the year, the heartbreaks, and the awesome voice, and you get Eric Church. He is a spectacular song writer who is sadly under appreciated in his genre. His first album Sinners Like Me, has several good radio songs that all did pretty decent, but buy the album and you realize just how awesome this guy really is. His latest album Love Your Love the Most, is also pretty good, but it's less accessible to someone who is not already a fan.
3: Devil's Waitin', Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Allow me to indulge myself with yet one more BRMC song. The album this is off of is AWESOME!! The album Howl is where BRMC got interesting. Where they went from some sort of niche band with a tribute sound to a band with it's own identity. This album is pure Americana bringing up images of the deep south around the turn of the 19th and 20th century. Just listen to this track, which details a man in prison who thinks he knows it all, but realizes that he knows nothing beyond his life, and then go listen to the rest of it.
4: Texas Flood, Stevie Ray Vaughan
This one may get some groans, but SRV was amazing. In case you didn't know, SRV basically single-handedly revived Blues in popular culture in the 70's and 80's. He only released three albums though, because he once got in that trap for musicians everywhere: the aircraft. After what is considered biggest show of his life, he was planning on driving to the next stop, but heard that one of the guys he was sharing the stage with (you ever heard of Eric Clapton?) had an extra seat on a helicopter. Luckily, Clapton was not aboard, unluckily, the plane crashed within minutes of take-off and there were no survivors. Anyway, while he was alive, SRV established himself as a guitar god amongst the likes of Clapton, Hendrix, King, Gibbons, and BB King. He only released 5 albums during his life, but several more have been published posthumously. Texas Flood is by no means his most popular track, (maybe Crossfire, Cold Shot, or his cover of Voodoo Child (Slight Return)), but is one of his bluesiest, so it's really distinguished from others on this list.
5: Back in Black, AC/DC
Hey it's AC/DC, nuff said. Wait no, it's BACK IN BLACK!!! The title track of the bestselling (ever!) rock album! I think it's the second best selling of all genres behind Michael Jackson's Thriller. So anyway, yeah I'm totally indulging myself here but I'm gonna do it anyway!
Coming soon!!

Monday!
So this weekend I went to see Toy Story.
That's the most emotional I've ever gotten over a cartoon....ever!
Seriously the last 15 minutes of that show are specifically designed to reduce anyone to a blubbering heap!
Of course it was brilliant, and the whole fact that a huge amount of the people going to it have pretty much grown up in sync with Andy was surely not unnoticed by Pixar. Anyway, go see it.
Let me explain the little music thing in the corner there. I will be putting up songs that people should check out up there. The following is what a typical post featuring the playlist may look like (by the way LW means that there is some course language involved in a particular song):
1: Beat the Devil's Tattoo, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
I cannot get enough of this band. BRMC specializes in reverb and fuzz drenched Americana type songs. Their first couple of albums sounded very British and very fuzzy, then with Howl they changed things up with an extremely excellent sort of Dylan-esque acoustic sound. Then on Baby 81 they backed up a bit to reassure fans, and finally on their new album Beat the Devil's Tattoo they fused the two sounds together. This is how a band should "change their sound," but anyway they're excellent. However they won't appeal to everyone so don't worry if it's kind of distasteful to your ears. They have an extremely niche sound.
Tracks to check out: Berlin, Ain't No Easy Way, Aya
2: Lanigan's Ball, Enter the Haggis
These guys are a small celtic/rock/fusion band from Canada who have enough musicianship to power several record labels. These are brilliant, but, being a small band, Project Playlist doesn't have very many good tracks from them. Check out their album Soapbox Heroes for some seriously awesome music.
Tracks to check out: Perfect Song, One Last Drink, No More Stones.
3: Bad Company, Five Finger Death Punch
Yes, they do have one of the most awesome band names in existence. This band is just getting started with this being off their second album War is the Answer, however they have one of the most unique sounds in heavier music. At least in my opinion. Though this is a cover, I think it really clearly shows a composite of their two main styles. Those being "Death Punk" and more "Modern Power Ballad" sort of things. WARNING, these guys are definitely not shy about the language issue in their heavier stuff, you have been warned.
Tracks to check out: Crossing Over, Hard to See, No One Gets Left Behind(LW)
4: King Without a Crown, Matisyahu
Big shout out to Jacob for telling me about this guy. In my most strange imaginations, I never would have thought of a Hasidic Jew who does beat box stuff to a reggae background. I really haven't researched this guy extensively yet, but I can tell you that this guy is waay better on his live album then on his studios; this is sadly a very rare quality, but it is nice to see.
5: That Lonesome Song, Jamey Johnson
This guy is one of the hopes of Country music. This guy is a phenomenal song writer and has one of the coolest voices since the likes of Randy Travis, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings. Speaking of which, Johnson obviously an admirer of Waylon with a cover on this album and a song mentioning his name. His style is also very much like the Outlaw. Of course, like Waylon, Johnson gets little attention from the mainstream (hold that thought, I'll get to "In Color"). Part of this could be due to the grittiness of his songs and the distinctly not-pop sound of his music. "But wait!" say some people "didn't this guy sing that song The Dollar a while ago? That wasn't like this at all!" It's true, Johnson used to be fairly middle of the road, but it seems that a lot has happened since those earlier songs. He was dropped from his label, went through a divorce, battled alcoholism, and came out sounding grittier. When Mercury Records picked up That Lonesome Song and released "In Color" that song topped out at #9 on the charts and won Song of the Year at the CMA and the ACM awards. He followed it with "High cost of living" which wasn't near as popular, possibly due to the extreme grittiness of the track. Now he is sitting on one gold album and is releasing a new one in September. This guy needs help to keep up the pressure on the Clone-Soaked Nashville mainstream! (EDIT: I just found out about Macon, which is his new single, it's on the rise!)
Tracks to check out: Angel, Mowing Down the Roses, Dreaming My Dreams
Yes it's true, I have a soft spot for Country music, I was raised on it so I wasn't exposed to the stereotypes. If you have subscribed to the whole "country music is for depressed hicks!" thing then check it out. Despite the fact that it's in a sad state at the moment, country music remains the most genuine, down to earth, and patriotic genre out there right now. Shoot me a note/comment with your music tastes and I'll send you a list of recommendations.
That's all for today folks check back in soon!

Game of the (week?) and Toy Story 3
I don't know how often I will be posting flash games, but this one is too good to pass up!
It's called Bang!Heroes and is a run'n'gun shooter with a western/steampunk theme
This game is a blast and I am happy to provide a link to it!
In other news, Toy Story 3 came out today!!!
I cannot tell you how happy I was when I first saw the teaser for this, and I've gotten nothing but more excited as the time goes by! I was planning on attending the midnight premier, however, plans change. So I will be seeing Sunday! Comments on the plot are forbidden!
It's funny, I don't know very many little kids but most of them are like "meh, it's another movie." Meanwhile, people around 16-21 are flipping out, myself included! It seems that not only has nostalgia started rearing its head early this generation, but the more I watch the original, and it's just-as-good sequel, I realize that these are a couple of completely brilliant movies! Every time I watch them (probably in the hundreds by now) I laugh! I notice something new, or I get another joke I didn't before, or I appreciate a character I didn't before, or something. They're both extremely fine pieces of film making.
Also, Toy Story was Pixar's big break, the one that paved the way for all the brilliant stuff to come out of that studio for the next decade or so, most importantly, though, is the fact that this pretty much revitalized cartoons as movies. If you look at the stuff that came out in 1995 (at least the top ten movies) Toy Story is the only cartoon other than Pocahontas. That should say something right there, Pocahontas wasn't exactly the classic Disney would have liked it to be, but anyway that's beside the point. From 1990-1995 exactly three cartoon movies are worth remembering (at least in the mainstream): The Lion King, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast. "But wait" you say "Those are undeniable masterpieces," well of course they are! At least the first and the last are, Aladdin is not quite a masterpiece. Still, those are the only ones, in 1996 101 Dalmations and the Hunchback of Notre Dame came out (wee), but then it's all silent for the rest of the decade, except for A Bug's Life and Toy Story 2. Kind of funny huh? Of course in 2000 we got The Emperor's New Groove (awesome), but that's again beside the point. Since then we've gotten Monsters Inc., The Incredibles, Finding Nemo, Ratatouille, and Up. All great movies! Of course we also have Cars and Wall-E which are both on the average side, but that's a pretty good track record for one studio!
I guess what I'm saying is I'm so stoked about this movie that I can't hardly keep from going out and watching it until Sunday!
This is Desertrat, typing out into cyberspace from a remote location in the Arizona desert!
